Follow nature’s calling and love your people
There is a phrase in Chinese, “顺天爱人”, which roughly translates to “follow nature’s calling and love your people”. That is the value that UPChem upholds. UPChem has award winning efforts on environmental conservation, and the nature of our work involves minimal waste residues. We also prioritize employee safety and customer experiences in our efforts to “love your people”. As a result, UPChem is known for its extremely low turn-over rates, many of our employees have been with the company for decades. This can also be attributed to our family-like culture. UPChem is a closely knitted community, most of our employees have become lifelong friends and a number of them have even found their significant others within UPChem.
Simple and Focused
UPChem also has a culture of incredible work ethics. Our motto is “Simple and Focused”. “Simple” refers to the way we live life, and “Focused” refers to our relatively few but perfected products. We are committed to technological innovation and safety promotion within our field. UPChem’s goal is to be the reliable partner of large corporations in the field of special isocyanates.
Sports culture
A special part of our UPChem culture is the sport of running. Under the encouragement of our founder and CEO, Jianfeng Xia (Jeffrey), about 70 of our UPChem employees are part of our decorated marathon team. UPChem’s marathon team has participated in more than 80 marathon competitions in 5 countries.
Philanthropy
Another part of the UPChem culture that is vital to our identity is philanthropy. We believe in giving back to our communities as they have served us. Most notably, during the tragic Wenchuan earthquake of 2008, our founder and CEO personally led a team of employees and drove more than 10 hours to the front line of the tragedy in order to provide clothing, food and medical supplies to those in need. In march of 2020, in the height of the global pandemic, when the US had no supply of PPE, UPChem sent out multiple shipments of masks, protective shields and gowns from China to hospitals, police stations, fire stations and residents in the New Jersey and Philadelphia area.
